In an effort to gain a larger portion of the mid-range smartphone market and stave off competition from rivals like Samsung and China’s Huawei, Apple unveiled its newest low-cost model, the iPhone 16e, on Wednesday.
At a time when manufacturers of consumer electronics are seeking to incorporate artificial intelligence capabilities into their products, the new phone, which abandons the SE naming pattern for Apple’s low-cost series, will compete with well-known Android handsets.
The iPhone 16e, which retails for $599, will have sufficient processing power to operate Apple Intelligence, a suite of applications that includes built-in access to ChatGPT.
As it introduces artificial intelligence technologies, Apple predicted robust sales growth late last month, indicating that it will bounce back from a decline in iPhone sales.
