A lawsuit alleging that Siri, Apple’s digital assistant, eavesdropped on users’ private chats has been settled for $95 million.
Apple maintained that it had done nothing wrong in the proposed settlement that was described in a court document that was viewed on Thursday.
According to the tech giant, “Apple has at all times denied and continues to deny any and all alleged wrongdoing and liability,” in the proposed settlement, which needs a judge’s approval to be finalized.
Siri was accused of listening in on private conversations of users of iPhones, iPads, HomePods, and other Apple gadgets that were supplemented with the digital assistant in a class action case that was filed five years ago.
The digital behemoth from California has made customer privacy a key component of its corporate image.
