The Punjab government has started a new project to give free solar systems to 50,000 homes in the region. This creative idea, known as the “Roshan Gharana Program,” aims to reduce the cost of power for low-consumption homes. The project will be totally funded by the province government, which plans to spend about Rs. 10 billion.
The Free Solar System Scheme: Qualifications and Advantages
The free solar systems are available to households with monthly electricity use of no more than 100 units. The government will cover all expenses, including the cost of the solar systems and their installation. Many families should see a large reduction in their electricity expenses as a result of this effort, which will also promote the use of renewable energy sources.
The initiative will exclude homes engaged in energy theft, meter manipulation, or other fraudulent acts in order to maintain transparency and equity. This step guarantees that the free solar program only benefits worthy homes.
By simply texting their identity card number and bill reference number to 8800, qualifying families can quickly register. Following National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) verification, the data will be forwarded to Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for extra confirmation.
The final list of qualifying homes will be delivered to the district administration for implementation after the validation procedure is finished. The Department of Energy has also been given permission to establish a specific project management division in order to guarantee the program’s successful execution.
