According to sources close to the situation, PM Shehbaz Sharif ordered Ayesha Raza Farooq to take on the role of focal point for the anti-polio campaign. She was also told that Farooq’s appointment would be honorary.
Ayesha Raza Farooq will chair the National Polio Steering Committee meetings, and the focal person will update the PM on government anti-polio measures.
According to sources, the focal point will oversee and lead the task force established for the purpose of combating polio in Pakistan.
She will also offer suggestions about the execution of the Polio Action Plan.
Sources state that in addition to communicating with international donors and coordinating with international anti-polio partners, the focus person will represent Pakistan on the international level regarding polio
