In an exclusive interview, the actress—who is now promoting her newest Netflix movie, “Trigger Warning”—talked candidly about her early career and gave an explanation for why she thought she was playing roles just to survive.
Referring to her time as a young actor in Hollywood, Alba said People magazine, “You’re not always taking the roles that are the best.” “You’re just taking roles to survive, which teaches grit and perseverance, but I do wish I would’ve had the skill set and the wherewithal to write and to know about writing and directing and producing earlier in my career.”
The mother of three, who also serves as the film’s executive producer and star, claimed that her experience has improved her ability to support her children should they decide to pursue careers similar to hers.
“The thing is, I think if you tell your kid anything, they’re going to do the opposite, right?” asked Alba, who lives with her husband Cash Warren and has three children: Honor, 16, Haven, 12, and Hayes, 6. “So I try not to have too strong opinions one way or another.”
“If they do want to be a performer, then being able to be a producer and a writer, or a director,” she stated. “I believe that taking on a leadership role and participating in the art in industry.
