Cloudy weather on Friday (today) made it unlikely to see the moon, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday.
At 6:30 p.m. on February 28, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will gather in Peshawar to witness the Ramadan moon.
The holy month of fasting will start on March 1 (Saturday) if the crescent is visible. The meeting will begin following the Asr prayer and be chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad, the head of the committee.
In their respective jurisdictions, other zonal committee meetings would also be held to read a notification from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and accept and evaluate reports of moon sightings. There will be clerics from every school of thought.
