Israel’s defense minister on Tuesday vowed to target the Lebanese state directly if the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah breaks down due to tit-for-tat attacks, less than a week after it was put into place.
Hezbollah shot at Israeli-occupied territory on Monday, claiming Israeli truce violations, and Israeli strikes killed nine people in southern Lebanon, making it the worst day since that deal went into effect last Wednesday.
Israel Katz stated during a visit to the Israel Defense Forces’ 146th Division, which is located close to the Lebanese border, on Tuesday that “if we return to war, we will act with strength, go deeper.”
He stated that “there will no longer be any exemptions for the State of Lebanon” if the truce were to end.
