The wheel “came off and rolled down the hill” as the aircraft was taxiing out of the gate. At the time, there were about 200 passengers on board, but nobody was harmed.
According to a US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) report, the wheel “came off and rolled down the hill” as the Delta Air Lines aircraft was ready to take off.
A Delta representative verified that a “nose gear tire came loose from the landing gear” on the aircraft that was supposed to take off from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and land in Bogota, Colombia, occurred.
According to the spokesperson, “all customers and their bags were removed from the aircraft, transferred to the gate, and on to a replacement aircraft,” Sky News was informed.
“We apologise to our customers for the inconvenience,” they said.
Based on the FAA’s preliminary report, none of the 184 passengers or six crew members were injured in the incident.
Boeing referred inquiries to the airline and declined to comment.
