According to information obtained by News, a meeting of the top flight’s shareholders on November 22 is anticipated to cover a variety of fresh proposals that will be presented to the other professional football tiers.
A month after the government introduced legislation opening the door for the establishment of an independent football regulator with the authority to impose a comprehensive financial agreement on the sport, the meeting will take place.
According to insiders, the Premier League hired a powerful group of advisors, including Global Counsel, a lobbying organization established by it.
The official agenda for the meeting on November 22 has not yet been finalized, one warned.
Nonetheless, a number of club officials stated that they anticipated it to be included in light of the increasing pressure from certain Premier League shareholders to submit an updated agreement to the Rick Parry-chaired EFL board.
According to an executive at one elite club, “getting a deal done now that the EFL accepts would offer a five-year fix, which means it is resolved for the medium term and out of the regulator’s reach.”
