NEW YORK/BERLIN: As the Trump Administration presses Russia to end its war in Ukraine, a number of US national security agencies have put a halt to efforts to coordinate a counter-offensive against Russian cyberattacks, disinformation, and sabotage.
Last year, in response to US intelligence concerns that Russia was intensifying a shadow war against Western countries, former President Joe Biden directed his national security staff to form working groups to keep an eye on the situation.
Seven former officials who took part in the working groups told Reuters that the proposal, which was spearheaded by the president’s National Security Council (NSC), featured at least seven national security agencies collaborating with European allies to thwart plots against the United States and Europe.
