UPPER KURRAM: In the most recent blow to peace attempts in the tense area, police reported Friday that the assistant commissioner (AC) of Boshehra, located in Upper Kurram, was hurt by gunfire from unidentified assailants.
Warring tribes eventually reached a deal last month to maintain peace in the Kurram region, but the arrangement was shattered when Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud was hurt in a shooting incident.
However, following the efforts of law enforcement, calm was restored and vital supplies began to arrive in Kurram, which had been isolated from the rest of the nation for months.
The assault on AC Saeed Manan today presented yet another challenge to the peace process.
