Last month, in the affluent Hamptons resort of Sag Harbor, New York State, the Grammy Award-winning pop star was taken into custody.
Timberlake asks an audience at Boston’s TD Garden arena in a video that was posted to social media over the weekend: “Is there anyone here that is driving? No, I’m just kidding.”
As he continues to speak to the crowd, fans seem to laugh and applaud.
Tuesday, June 18, at 12.37 a.m. local time (5.27 a.m. UK time), Timberlake was stopped by the Sag Harbor Village Police Department after they observed him “failing to stop at a duly posted stop sign and failing to maintain his lane of travel” while driving.
According to court filings, an officer reported that he had bloodshot, watery eyes and that there was a significant alcohol odor coming from his breath.
The court papers further said that he was shaky on foot, lacked the ability to divide attention, delayed his speech, and did poorly on all standardised field sobriety tests.
A source told Page Six, the entertainment and celebrity section of the New York Post, that Timberlake said “under his breath” that the arrest would “ruin the tour.”
