While residing at the Scottish stately home in Ayrshire, the King spends the majority of his evening meals in the Pink Dining Room.
The room has been conserved the finest out of the entire mansion, which was saved for the country in 2007 by a group headed by the King while he was still the Prince of Wales.
The walls and ceiling feature pink-tinted rococo plasterwork, a feature the King particularly enjoys, and were inspired by the Roman ruins of Palmyra in Syria.
Thanks to the King’s Foundation, the general public can now enjoy a three-course meal that is reminiscent of the 1700s and is served by a traditional butler.
A main course of roasted venison and beef with parmentier potatoes and a juniper sauce, followed by a dessert of bread and butter pudding, apple and almond trifle, and lemon and pistachio syllabub, will all be based on the dishes that were popular at the period. Other starters may include poached salmon, fish soup, and manchet bread.
