Separate incidents involving two buses transporting pilgrims in Nawabshah and Khairpur resulted in at least 16 fatalities and numerous injuries.
A van and a trailer transporting pilgrims collided near Fatuhal Zardari hamlet on Amri Road in Nawabshah, resulting in at least six fatalities and ten injuries.
At least ten persons were killed and thirty others were injured when a coach carrying pilgrims in Khairpur overturned on the National Highway close to Ranipur.
Those hurt in the accidents were sent to the hospital, the police said.
Traveling in the vehicles, pilgrims were going to Sehwan Sharif to attend Usman Marwandi’s, also known as Hazrat Lal’s, urs, which is a Sufi saint’s death anniversary.
