Ten of the eighty-five passengers on board the TransAir-operated Air Senegal aircraft were hurt in the incident, which occurred during the voyage to Bamako in neighboring Mali, according to Transport Minister El Malick Ndiaye.
Our jet just caught fire. On Facebook, Malian musician Cheick Siriman Sissoko posted a video of people taking nighttime jumps down the emergency slides when the plane was completely enveloped in flames.
There are screams in the background. Either a hospital or a hotel has been used to house the passengers while they rest and heal.
The damaged aircraft was shown in pictures released by the Aviation Safety Network in a grassy field with fire extinguishers all around it.
Photos posted on social media by the Aviation Safety Network, which keeps track of airline mishaps, appear to reveal that one of the engines on board the Boeing 737-300 appeared to have split apart, and a wing was also damaged.
