At Joker: Folie à Deux’s UK premiere, she spoke with News and said, “I don’t really know if I did because I’ve made a whole record about her.”
The Poker Face singer revealed she will be releasing a 13-song companion album to the film as audiences get ready to watch the Oscar-winning actress play as the “true love” to Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
Lady Gaga said, “I think the whole experience inspired me through and through.”
“It was so amazing to get to know this character through music, through the script, through dance, through all this tremendous collaboration.”
Following the success of 2019’s Joker, which took home two Oscars and generated over $1 billion at the box office globally, director Todd Phillips and his star decided to go in a different direction with their reimagining of Arthur Fleck’s complex split personality.
Phoenix has previously stated that he thought Gaga “to be just without ego, and with such a fierce determination to just get right in with us…she was just really game for anything,” even though he did not pause for interviews on the red carpet.
The film received mixed reviews when it debuted at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month, but we’ll soon find out who gets the final laugh—the Joker’s cast or the reviewers.
