Sir Rod was giving a prize at the inaugural King’s Foundation award ceremony, held at St. James’s Palace, the monarch’s charity foundation.
The celebrity, who received a knighthood in 2016, asked to speak for a short while and stated, “Penny and I are so honored to be ambassadors for the King’s Trust.”
She corrected him, Lady Penny: “Foundation.”
Sir Rod laughed, “B*,” and remarked, “I probably shouldn’t have said that.”
Curtly, he said, “I am also wonderfully honoured to be a knight and, David, yours is coming soon.”
After Beckham laughed and shook his head, Sir Rod said he could take a joke.
The former England captain was named as one of the foundation’s ambassadors last month after it was made public that he had discussed beekeeping and bringing the next generation of people closer to nature during a conversation with the King.
The football player, who revealed during the event that he had cuts on his hands from planting roses over the weekend, frequently posts videos of his beloved hens and gardening endeavors on social media.
