A variety of forthcoming games from Sony have been revealed to mixed reviews.
The trailers and gameplay of upcoming games are shown during the console maker’s State of Play broadcasts.
The company’s PS5 release schedule has drawn criticism for not featuring the kind of blockbuster exclusives that helped PlayStation establish its reputation.
Larger games are often reserved for its “Showcase”-branded events; they are not typically shown at State of Play.
And that turned out to be true once more. However, one unique title really took center stage.
The majority of Sony’s presentation was devoted to Concord, their new online team shooter.
That should come as no surprise. The business has placed a significant wager on “live-service” games, which get updates often to keep players interested.
The Starship Troopers-inspired multiplayer game has sold over 12 million copies since its release in February. Sony’s decision to release the game simultaneously on PC and PS5 is credited with its popularity.
It intended to do the same with Concord, but there were concerns that it wouldn’t be able to draw in players in the same manner as Helldivers 2.
Fans dubbed the game “Overwatch meets Guardians of the Galaxy” after seeing a thorough first look at the cinematics and gameplay.
In relation to that, State of Play also included teasers for Marvel Rivals, another online multiplayer game that might give Concord some competition.
