ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, parliamentarians from both the government and the opposition came together in the upper chamber to demand action against individuals who were insulting the chamber following a raid by plainclothesmen to arrest PTI members within the National Assembly.
Members of parliament voted in favor of a motion that changed the rules in order to “protect the dignity of parliament” and asked that anyone who attacked the “prestige” of the parliament face consequences.
Syed Shibli Faraz, a PTI member and opposition leader, submitted a motion denouncing the “outrageous attack” on the parliament.
The resolution said, “We further denounce the capricious kidnapping of ten duly elected National Assembly representatives from the Parliament’s premises.” It recommended changing the legislators’ privilege and dignity in order to end the “blatant breach” of the relevant regulations.
