KARACHI: Leaders of the legal profession have promised to start a protest movement against the 26th Constitutional Amendment, similar to the one that was started in 2007 to restore the judges.
Senior counsel and PTI leader Hamid Khan told reporters that a National Action Committee would be established to start the movement, much like it was in 2007, following his appearance before a Supreme Court court on Monday.
To develop a strategy, the committee would comprise representatives from district bars, the Supreme Court Bar Association, and high court bar associations.
He stated that only the most senior judge “would be recognized as the CJP” following the retirement of the current chief justice on October 25.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is the only person we would accept as chief.
