In the third quarter, the 25-year-old wide out scored the first punt return touchdown for the Steelers in almost five years.
When quarterback Russell Wilson used his trademark “moon ball” throw to find Austin in the fourth quarter, the game was tied.
Wilson remarked, “I try to give the guys a chance,”
“They have fantastic plays and always manage to make me appear at least passable.
Let it fall and give them an opportunity to make a fantastic play. I’ve been throwing it up to the moon for a while.
At halftime, the score was tied at 9–9, but the Steelers led 16–9 going into the last quarter.
Tyrone Tracy Jr., a rookie running back, put the Giants back in it with a 45-yard score, but on the Giants’ last possession, Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr. intercepted to secure the victory.
The Steelers are now at the top of the AFC North standings after the victory, while the Giants remain at the bottom of the NFC East.
