Penny Wong, Australia’s foreign minister, has expressed serious worry over India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) intelligence agency’s role in targeted killings and acts of terrorism around the world.
Investigations showed that Indian agents were involved in the killings of Sikh leaders, notably Canadian Hardeep Singh Nijjar, prompting this statement.
Speaking on the subject, Minister Wong emphasized that Australia is committed to safeguarding the Sikh community and that everyone, including Sikhs, has the right to seek safety and respect in Australia. She urged for an open and exhaustive examination into the claims and reaffirmed that the nation respects Canada’s legal system.
Wong confirmed in an official statement that Australia respects the sovereignty of the judiciary, the rule of law.
