SYDNEY: In order to prepare for the highly anticipated match against India in the game’s longest format, Australia’s Twenty20 skipper Mitchell Marsh and his Test colleagues will not play in the three-match series against Pakistan in November.
When the roster for the matches in Brisbane, Sydney, and Hobart was revealed on Monday, none of Australia’s Test regulars were included. This allowed them to focus on getting ready for the first Test match against India in Perth on November 22.
Following the final Twenty20 match at Bellerive Oval on November 18, Cricket Australia said that a few T20 players may join the Test team. However, chief selector George Bailey later clarified that this was merely a backup plan in case of injuries.
