In an effort to maintain public welfare and sustain the economy, the government has begun to crack down on smuggling. Authorities nationwide confiscated 126.4 metric tons of sugar, 4 metric tons of flour, 3,252 cigarette sticks, 58 bundles of cloth, and 0.959 million liters of Iranian oil between September 1 and September 8, 2023.
1,098 cigarette sticks were seized by authorities in Karachi, and 2,154 were taken in Quetta. 120 metric tons of sugar and 4 metric tons of flour were seized in Multan, and an additional 6.4 metric tons of sugar were intercepted in Quetta.
0.064 million liters in Karachi, 0.893 million liters in Quetta, and 0.002 million liters in Multan were the total amount of Iranian oil seized. 48 bundles of fabric were seized by authorities in Quetta and 10 bundles in Multan.
