The body of a Pennsylvania woman who is thought to have fallen into a new sinkhole this week while looking for her cat was discovered in a long-abandoned mine that the crater revealed, state police said Friday.
Trooper Steve Limani, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania State Police, reported that Elizabeth Pollard, 64, was discovered dead in the mine in the marguerite community in southwest Pennsylvania just after 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Early Friday afternoon, crews were still trying to recover her corpse, he added.
We desperately want the body returned so we can bury her, the family continued telling us, Limani added. “We simply wanted to make sure that we could accomplish that as a group.”
