In Migration, Mack, Pam, Dax, and Gwen Mallard relate the tale of how they take a winter trip to Jamaica via New York City, upending everything.
In the animated film Migration, the 35-year-old celebrity plays the tenacious leader of a gang of pigeons in New York City, Chump.
A family vacation to Jamaica is the subject of this film from the creators of Despicable Me, Minions, and The Secret Life of Pets.
Awkwafina, who stands 5′ 1″ tall, says she has “a big, enormous personality, but is really petite,” that she’s a real New Yorker, just like her character Chump. That seems like something I can really relate to, then.”
“My drama study on pigeons is just growing up in New York and constantly just about having one just fly into my mouth,” she said in reference to her rather natural preparation for the role.
She has also interacted directly with our British pigeon counterparts: “I have interacted with them on occasion. They seem more courteous to me. They continue to walk quickly, but not that quickly, do you understand?”
Co-star Keegan Michael-Key, who plays the nostalgic Jamaican parrot Delroy in Her Migration, cracks jokes, saying, “They get out of the way quicker.”
Awkwafina acknowledges that, like many New Yorkers, she finds the birds—which are frequently seen as pests—to be a nuisance, saying, “They’re gritty, they’re one of the city.” I believe that to be the conclusion of my study. merely residing in New York.”
Elizabeth Banks, meanwhile, claims she “did a lot of flapping while recording” with Kumail Nanjiani, who plays Pam and Mack Mallard, respectively.
Banks continues: “You have to put the physicality into it when you’re flying around.”
