According to authorities, Baba Siddique, who was well-known for hosting extravagant parties, was shot many times on Saturday night outside his son’s workplace in the nation’s financial center.
According to news agency, two accused attackers have been taken into custody, while authorities are looking for a third.
According to TV station , two suspects stated they were members of a criminal organization that had previously committed numerous murders.
In February of this year, Mr. Siddique joined the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), after having been a member of the Indian National Congress party for decades.
Starting in 1999, he served three consecutive terms as a member of the Maharashtra state legislature.
He was a minister as well.
Next month, Maharashtra is scheduled to hold elections.
The deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, declared that the murder of his NCP colleague will be “thoroughly investigated” and that the perpetrators would face “strict action”
According to the news, Mr. Pawar stated that five teams have been sent to different states to look into Mr. Siddique’s murder.
