For the third time, Balochistani authorities have delayed the start of this year’s last anti-polio campaign, now setting it for December 30.
The seven-day campaign was originally scheduled to start on December 16. However, the Home Department of the Balochistani government voiced security concerns, which caused the campaign to be postponed until December 17.
Although the campaign was supposed to begin on December 18, the Emergency Operations Center for Polio in Balochistan confirmed the new start date of December 30 in a statement later that evening.
Notably, a Grand Health Alliance made up of Balochistani health department employees’ organizations has said that it will boycott the anti-polio campaign.
