DHAKA: The acting director of Bangladesh’s foreign ministry said Monday that the government has informed its neighbor, India, that it wants Sheikh Hasina, the former prime minister who fled to New Delhi in August, to return for “judicial process.”
Touhid Hossain told reporters, “We sent a note verbale to the Indian government saying that the Bangladesh government wants her (Hasina) back here for judicial process,” alluding to communication between the two nations.
Requests for response were not immediately answered by Hasina’s son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, or India’s foreign ministry.
In addition to Hasina, her son Joy and niece Tulip Siddiq, a British legislator and government minister, are also being investigated.
