Based on an examination of purchasing scams that its clients have reported, along with those of Halifax and Bank of Scotland, where Swift and/or the Eras Tour were included as part of the claim, Lloyds Bank has sent out a warning to fans.
Since tickets went on sale in July 2023, over 600 Lloyds Banking Group clients have reported falling victim to scams.
According to Lloyds, each victim lost £332 on average, although in rare situations, the damage exceeded £1,000.
Based only on its own customer data, Lloyds calculates that, based on its current account market share and assuming similar trends across other UK banks, there were probably at least 3,000 victims in the UK, losing over £1 million to fraudsters.
Lloyds cautioned that fans between the ages of 25 and 34 are most likely to fall victim to scams involving sold-out tickets, with many of them starting on social media.
