Images of the moment 34-year-old Lukas McClish, who was missing for ten days in Big Basin Redwood State Park, was found by his family, showing him without a shirt, have surfaced.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office reports that although Mr. McClish was last seen on June 11, he wasn’t reported missing until June 16, when he didn’t show up for a Father’s Day meal.
Drones were used to locate him when it was reported that someone had screamed. He was discovered on Friday.
Skilled hiker Mr. McClish told the News that in order to survive, he ate wild berries and drank water from creeks. This “diet” caused him to drop 13.6 kg (30 lbs).
Mr. McClish stated, “I was kind of doing the water-diet thing.” “If you drink a gallon and a half of water every day, you don’t need food until you run out of carbs.”
When Mr. McClish set out on what he believed to be a three-hour hike before work, he took very little with him.
“All I took with me was a hat, my hiking shoes, and a pair of jeans. I carried a pair of Leatherman-style folding scissors and a flashlight. That was also regarding it.
