Wilson revealed that she started pursuing her singing career at the age of nine, writing her first song at nine. She would go about performing, even in Walmart’s aisles.
“I’ve heard rumors that you used to act in the aisles of a Walmart,” Jimmy Fallon, the host, questioned Wilson during his late-night talk show.
“Anywhere they let me play, I would play,” she said. “I’m talking about nursing homes, flatbed trailers.”
“Anywhere that – My parents would be like ‘Hey, Lainey, sing that song you just wrote last week for anybody,’ and I’d just do it.”
The native of Baskin, Louisiana, went on to say that she was inspired to become a composer since she grew up in a little community of about 200 people where storytelling was valued.
Wilson revealed that when she was a little child, her grandma used to print off her photos and assist with putting them on CDs that she would distribute.
