Best film cast went to Christopher Nolan’s biopic, and Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. both took home awards at the red carpet ceremony. This event came just after the longest-ever walkout by actors and is a major prelude to next month’s Oscars.
At the Hollywood celebration, Christopher Nolan’s biography about the “father of the atomic bomb” received best cast in a feature picture, and its star, Cillian Murphy, took home the best actor award.
The Oscar Awards are currently being voted on ahead of its ceremony on March 10th, and the red carpet event comes after the longest actors’ strike in history.
“Now looking out at you guys here today, I know I am part of something truly wonderful,” said Murphy, who has already earned success at the BAFTAs and Golden Globes. “Twenty-eight years ago when I was trying to become an actor, I was a failed musician and I felt extremely like an interloper.”
Downey Jr. remarked, “Why me, why now, why do things seem to be going my way?” as he accepted his prize.
