KYIV: US President Joe Biden denounced the attack as “outrageous” and promised further military assistance to Kyiv after Russia launched missile and drone strikes on Ukraine’s cities and energy facilities on Christmas Day, in what President Volodymyr Zelenskiy called a “inhuman” attack.
Nearly three years into the conflict, the strikes killed one person in the Dnipropetrovsk area and injured at least six in the northern city of Kharkiv, according to the local governors.
The “outrageous” strike was condemned by US President Joe Biden, who also stated that he had urged the US Defense Department to proceed with a fresh round of military assistance to Kyiv.
Blackouts and temperatures only a few degrees Celsius above freezing left half a million residents in the Kharkiv region without heat.
