The Sindh Assembly parliamentary panel approved the awarding of 15 to 20% grace marks to intermediate first-year students in three subjects on Tuesday, based on a report submitted by the fact-finding committee that was tasked with investigating the contentious results of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).
In response to opposition parties’ demands, the provincial assembly established a parliamentary committee in January of this year, led by Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah, to look into the contentious intermediate board results in the port city.
The parliamentary panel resolved during today’s session to give intermediate first-year students in math and physics 15% grace marks and those who didn’t pass the exams 20% in chemistry.
