“The craziness of being in the hospital, returning home, and then returning again is still fresh in my mind.
When Ivan was born, I had just been elected as an MP. I recall arriving at House of Commons debates utterly worn out from spending the entire night in St Mary’s Paddington [hospital].
“I recall how fortunate you were to have your first child. You still remember this lovely, happy boy who you would hold in your lap and care for and love despite all of the challenges he faced with his seizures, cerebral palsy, and other conditions.
“The remarkable aspect of mourning is that, initially, all that is present are ominous clouds. But eventually, cheerful memories.
