Cory Monteith’s ‘Glee’ characters say overdose storyline ‘hit a little too close to home’
Some of Cory Monteith's "Glee" castmates are discussing a plotline that they claim now impacts them differently, more than ten years after his passing. The topic was recently covered by Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale in an episode of their podcast, "And That's What You REALLY Missed." The two, who portrayed Artie Abrams and Tina Cohen-Chang on "Glee," talked about a scene from Season 3 in which Romy Rosemont's character, Finn Hudson, a football player and member of the Glee Club, is informed by his mother Carole (played by Monteith) that his father passed away from a drug overdose while serving in the US Army. Having struggled with substance misuse throughout his life, Monteith passed away in 2013 after an unintentional overdose. His age was 31. According to Ushkowitz and McHale,
