KARACHI: Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, has selected Karachi as the location for the yearly 10-day Muharram meetings, which are known as Ashara Mubaraka in the group.
Earlier this month, Saifuddin received a formal invitation from the Pakistani government and the Dawoodi Bohra community to preach Ashara Mubaraka in Pakistan.
Ten days are set aside during Ashara Mubaraka to honor the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his grandson Imam Husain (RA), and his friends and family. This time honors their brave stand for the global principles of compassion, justice, and truth.
The Ashara Mubaraka congregation is scheduled to be attended by around 80,000 Dawoodi Bohras from Pakistan and abroad, according to Shabbir Harianawala, an organizer from the Karachi Dawoodi Bohra community.
“We are collaborating closely with local organizations, government agencies, and neighbors to make sure our visitors are well-cared for while they are in Karachi. Our goal is to make sure that every guest feels at home and comfortable.”
The last time Syedna Mufaddal presided over the Karachi Muharram congregations was in 2017.
