If Donald Trump implements tariffs, Canada will respond swiftly and aggressively, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated on Friday.
As early as Saturday, the US president has threatened to impose a 25% tariff on Canadian products.
“It’s not what we want, but if he moves forward, we will also act,” Trudeau stated.
A key component of Trump’s economic agenda is tariffs. He views them as a means of boosting tax income, preserving jobs, and expanding the US economy.
According to economists, such a move might result in increased costs for Americans as well as disastrous immediate effects on Canada’s economy.
“I won’t sugarcoat it – our nation could be facing difficult times in the coming days and weeks,” Trudeau told Canadians during his televised speech.
