UNITED NATIONS: According to a new report from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a specialized division of the World Health Organization (WHO), a UN agency based in Geneva, the number of cases of breast cancer is predicted to rise by 38% worldwide by 2050, and the number of deaths from the disease is predicted to rise by 68%.
By the middle of the century, there would be 3.2 million new cases of breast cancer worldwide and 1.1 million deaths from the disease, according to the findings, which were released in “Nature Medicine” on Tuesday.
Low- and middle-income nations, where access to early detection, treatment, and care is still restricted, will bear a disproportionate amount of the burden.
“In the world, four women receive a breast cancer diagnosis every minute, and one woman passes away from the illness.
