Rachel Reeves told News that it would be “irresponsible” to guarantee that there would be no more tax increases after Labour’s first fiscal event since 2010.
The chancellor was questioned about whether she agreed that she had violated Labour’s platform, which is the document a government releases outlining its policy stance prior to an election, by drastically hiking taxes.
“I acknowledge that this budget is large and significant,” the chancellor replied.
