Ministers have asked citizens to provide feedback on which routes ought to be brought back up to the higher level.
September of last year saw the default speed limit in Wales’s built-up regions dropped to 20 mph. This change was made as part of the Labour Party’s agenda for the 2021 Senedd [parliament] election.
The regulation came under fire after a petition to remove the cap broke Senedd’s record for the most signatures on its website.
Lee Waters, the former deputy minister of climate change who led the implementation, declared last month that he would resign from his position and remove his account in response to harassment.
The government in Cardiff Bay will be updating its advice to councils on which routes can be exempted from the new lower 20 mph speed limit, according to recently appointed transport secretary Ken Skates.
