Taurasi had nothing but love for rookie sharpshooter Clark after he ignited the Indiana Fever’s comeback victory against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday. Clark almost recorded a triple-double in their battle.
“What Caitlin’s accomplished in her brief career thus far is incredible,” Taurasi told reporters via the news. She is a gamer, which is the one thing about her that I truly adore. She has clearly put in a lot of work. She’s faced a lot of challenges and pressure, but she perseveres and becomes better with each passing game.
She has a very bright future ahead of her, and it is exciting to see that as a veteran and someone who has played in this league for a very long period.
Clark and Taurasi were seen conversing often on the court in the broadcast. Taurasi was Clark’s childhood hero.
“I’m just glad we prevailed,” Clark said to Christine Williamson of the news. “It was obviously an amazing game, and it was cool to play against [Taurasi].” This was such an amazing crowd.
In the victory, Clark tallied 15 points, 12 assists, and 9 rebounds. With 5:48 remaining in the third quarter, she made a 3-pointer to trim the margin to five points. Kristy Wallace’s assist maintained the Mercury’s five-point lead.
