The goal of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is to alter American eating and drinking habits.
Kennedy, President-elect Trump’s pick to head the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), has long criticized substances that he claims harm Americans’ health, from the dyes in Fruit Loops cereal to the seed oils in chicken nuggets.
At a rally in November, following his withdrawal from his independent presidential campaign and support for Donald Trump, Kennedy declared, “We are betraying our children by letting [food] industries poison them.”
Kennedy will need to challenge Big Food and change the nation’s food laws before he can take aim at junk food.
