OTTAWA: His own lawmakers are putting more and more pressure on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to resign and allow someone else to take over as his party appears to be losing power early next year.
After more than nine years in power, the ruling Liberals are expected to be completely destroyed in the upcoming election due to voter tiredness and resentment over exorbitant costs and the housing problem.
More than fifty Liberal lawmakers from Ontario, the most populous of the ten provinces and the party’s primary base, convened a call on Saturday and decided Trudeau must resign, according to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
“The only option is to have the leadership change immediately,” said Liberal lawmaker Chandra Arya, a longtime supporter of Trudeau.
