In a fresh flare-up of diplomatic hostilities, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Canada has charged that operatives of the Indian government are targeting pro-Khalistani elements in the country by means of organized crime groups, particularly the Bishnoi gang.
The claim intensifies the ongoing conflict between Ottawa and New Delhi, which started when Canada accused Indian officials of being involved in the killing of Khalistani leader and Canadian citizen Hardeep Singh Nijjar last year.
RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme and Assistant Commissioner Brigitte Gauvin disclosed at a press conference that the Indian government is allegedly using criminal organizations to target South Asians, particularly those who support Kashmir.
