Israeli politician signals support for South Africa ICJ case
Ofer Cassif, a member of the Knesset who represents the far-left, Arab-majority Hadash coalition, has stated that he is in favor of the International Court of Justice's hearing this week to consider South Africa's allegations of genocide against Israel. He accused the Israeli government of pushing "South Africa to turn to The Hague" in a post on X. "I have a constitutional obligation to serve Israeli society and its citizens, not a government whose supporters advocate for ethnic cleansing and even genuine genocide," the author said. The Israeli parliament's ethics committee suspended Cassif in October after he likened Netanyahu's Gaza plan to the Nazis' "Final Solution" for the extermination of the Jewish population in Europe.
