On the second day of a truce mediated following over a year of conflict between Israel and the Lebanese armed organization Hezbollah, Israel claims Israeli forces launched airstrikes and fired artillery against targets in southern Lebanon.
After observing activity at a Hezbollah weapons factory and vehicles entering multiple locations that violated the ceasefire agreement, the Israeli army claimed to have opened fire on suspects.
Lebanon said it was keeping an eye on the situation and accused Israel of breaking the deal “multiple times.”
The ceasefire appeared to be holding up well so far, despite some fraying at the edges. The Israeli military road that leads to the northern tip of the Lebanese border was more crowded than it has been in months.
