As she ascended the stage at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, Celine Dion made headlines due to her struggles with stiff person syndrome.
In 2022, the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker received a rare and fatal neurological diagnosis called stiff person syndrome, which caused excruciating muscle spasms and stiffness in her muscles.
She hasn’t left the spotlight since. But when the singer took the stage at the esteemed event, her song The Power of Love playing in the background, she was met with a standing ovation.
Dion exuded charm as she stated, “When I say that I’m happy to be here, I really mean it from my heart,” wearing a mustard-colored coat over a white gown.
She continued, saying, “Those who have the good fortune to be in attendance at the Grammy Awards should never undervalue the immense love and happiness that music brings to our lives and to people everywhere.”
The singer disclosed her illness on social media in December 2022, writing, “I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time.”
She went on, “And it’s been really hard for me to talk about everything that I’ve been going through and to face these challenges.”
I was just told that I had a neurological illness that is extremely unusual and affects around one person in a million.
