ISLAMABAD The Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) request for a review of the top court’s May 2022 ruling on Article 63(A) has received support from both the federal government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
Back then, the highest court ruled that dissident members of a parliamentary party were not allowed to vote against the will of their party.
This happened as the review petition was heard by the SC bigger bench on Tuesday, which was presided over by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa. Justices Amin-ud-Din Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhail, Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel, and Naeem Akhtar Afghan make up the newly established bench.
The current bench was assembled following Justice Munib Akhtar’s Monday declaration of his unavailability to serve on the panel; the latter informed the supreme court of the reasons behind his incapacity.
